Ingredients
- 1¾ cups (210g) all-purpose flour
- 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
- 1½ teaspoons baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¾ cup (170g) unsalted butter, softened
- 3 large eggs, room temperature
- ½ cup (120ml) whole milk, room temperature
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- ¼ teaspoon almond extract (optional)
- 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, softened (for frosting)
- 4 cups (480g) powdered sugar, sifted (for frosting)
- 2 tablespoons heavy cream (for frosting)
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract (for frosting)
- ¼ teaspoon salt (for frosting)

Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 12-cup muffin tin with paper liners.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter and sugar together on medium-high speed for 3-4 minutes until pale and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, and then mix in the vanilla and almond extracts.
- Gradually add the flour mixture in three additions, alternating with the milk, mixing on low speed just until combined.
- Fill each cupcake liner about 2/3 full.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Allow cupcakes to cool for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- For the frosting, beat the softened butter until pale and creamy, add powdered sugar gradually, and mix in vanilla extract, salt, and heavy cream.
- Pipe frosting onto cooled cupcakes and add decorations as desired.
Notes
Replace all-purpose flour with gluten-free flour for a gluten-free version. Use plant-based butter for a dairy-free option.
